New ‘Superman’ star Amy Adams stays hush-hush on Lois Lane

By now, everyone knows: Amy Adams will be the new Lois Lane. “How about that?” the flame-haired actress said, pursing her lips and shrugging.

She was backstage at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas alongside Jason Segel, her co-star in The Muppets, after doing a presentation on that November comedy. She sealed the deal on playing Superman’s leading lady just days before. “How cool is that!” Segel declared, but Adams was mum even to him.

“It’s pretty cool,” she said. “I’m stoked.” She widened her eyes. The multiple Oscar-nominee looked a little daunted. Or perhaps just guarded. She said the role for director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel movie — starring Henry Cavill as the title superhero — came together very quickly, and she’s still processing it.

What led to her landing the role of the iconic and intrepid female reporter? Adams’ stoic expression could block even x-ray vision. “I can’t really say.”

Maybe it takes another intrepid female reporter — coincidentally named Amy — to get a little something out of her. “What I love about Lois Lane is that she’s been very consistently strong, successful, independent. I’m very attracted to that,” Adams told Los Angeles Times reporter Amy Kaufman. So hat-tip to her.
